What's your viewpoint of "refrigerator mother" theory?In English world ,the "refrigerator mother theory"always be a shame ...But my parents are very abusive and "refrigerator".

It is true that psychoanalysts still have a strong influence on how autism is dealt with in France. They do intense lobbying when it comes to make political decisions linked to autism. There are still people taking for granted the refrigerator mother theory, although they are not so many. But on the other hand, lots of people have already gone past all that. There is a strong fight between psychoanalytic and educative methods to take care of autist children, for example.
French situation is rather unique, with psychoanalysts having the lead on psychiatry, and this gives us some lag when compared to the US for instance. But things are moving (lots of examples in this forum!) in the right direction I believe.
As a summary, there are plenty of reasonnable people in France, and a few powerful psychoanalysts!
